The C+AgroForER project is led by four accredited laboratories in the Emilia-Romagna region, in collaboration with five companies interested in evaluating the effectiveness of solutions implemented to mitigate the impacts of their production activities, forests, and agroecological crops.
The project aims to propose improvement approaches to enhance ecosystem services and provide enabling technologies to assess them. This will equip companies with a decision-support tool. Current assessment systems are limited in objectively and reproducibly considering the additional environmental benefits of various mitigation solutions. The proposed approach will build on existing tools for calculating carbon and sustainability credits, improving the technical and scientific capacity to quantify aspects such as biodiversity benefits, atmospheric pollutant absorption, soil health, water resource use, product quality, and the potential for soil carbon sequestration through amendments.
The final outcome will be a comprehensive set of practical solutions, analytical techniques, calculation methodologies, and training opportunities to provide companies with an enabling tool for planning their agroforestry interventions.
