INTECH4WATER - INtegrated TECHnologies for pollutants in (waste) WATERservices

INTECH4WATER is positioned within the thematic area of the Circular Economy, focusing on the enhancement, reuse, and recycling of wastewater from municipal purification processes and industrial processes. The project integrates innovative, safe, and sustainable technologies into a single system. These technologies aim to achieve near-total removal of the most common contaminants in wastewater, including nutrients, (micro)emerging pollutants, microplastics, and pathogenic bacteria. The technologies involved are: ceramic/photocatalytic/adsorbent filters, advanced oxidation processes, UV, ozone, and microalgae.

The project includes an initial intensive laboratory phase, during which the optimal integration of technologies will be developed. In the subsequent phase, these technologies will be transferred to a prototype scale. All experimental steps will be guided by advanced statistical analysis and accompanied by chemical, biological, and microbiological assessments.

The expected final outcomes include the valorization of treated water, even for irrigation purposes, and the production of secondary raw materials to be used as fertilizers or other applications.
